Matfen Hall Nr Newcastle

Anyone stayed here. Thought about an overnight here as a treat during the oct break. Is it worth it? Hoping to visit alnwick castle. Any thoughts on where else greatly appreciated. Thanks...

Matfen Hall's really nice. I live in Hexham, the next town along. You might also consider Slaley Hall, that's gorgeous too. I've never been to Alnwick castle though. If you're looking for nightlife then the Jury's Inn at Newcastle is a pretty good hotel, not too central but a nice walk into town.
If you're wanting peace and quiet then Matfen or Slaley's the one.

I've been to Matfen and Slayley, love them both. Quite expensive though..... but I get industry rates
