Science Museum (Launch Pad and interactive galleries) and Natural history museum (dinosaurs). Both free. Smile

if you happen to be close to southbank centre and fancy a coffee (or a glass of wineSmile) there's little play area for kids in the middle, nice books, wooden toys. We spent more than an hour there last weekend as it started raining. It's difficult to find cafes with play areas in London!

I live in London and my 3 year old's favourite places for a rainy day are:

SCience Museum

Natural History Museum (likes the dinosaurs and the room in the basement where you can investigate and play with real bits of animal!)

The Army museum nr sloane square tube Get there early and bag a (free) ticket to the soft play area, it's fantastic.

All free.

Tate Modern
Free,
Easy and fun to get to (can walk along the river or take a boat as well as usual transport options)
Big spaces with lots of running about room, absorbs toddler noise beautifully,
Very visual.
Good facilities.
Outside chance you will get to see something you like too - happy mum, happy tot!

I live in London - have a 6 year old dd and a 2.10 ds. We like
Transport Museum - you do have to pay, but it is fab

Museum of Childhood (Bethnal Green on central line) Free with lots to do for that age and some fab toy collections for you to get nostalgic about

Science Museum
Downstairs water area is great

Discover in Stratford (also on the central line) you do have to pay, but the interactives are pretty cool

Could give you depending on what your interests are Smile

Oh yes, forgot about Army Museum!! I go there about once a week. Great (and clean!) play zone, won't get overcrowded. You get the time slot to spend there and even if it's too busy to get in you can have a wonder around in the museum and come back for the next session.

I've heard lots of friends saying the Science Museum is fantastic and kids want to go back time and time again.
Mine's too young to go yet, but as soon as he's ready....
