It is my DH's 50th b-day next year, and I'm looking for a romantic hotel for a weekend away in May. Ideally it needs to be within short walking distance of a lake and 4* or more.
I don't have a budget as I don't know what the prices are, it's more about getting the right place for a luxury weekend, not too formal (ie not black tie!), but hopefully with a pool and a good restaurant.
I know nothing about the area, but DH used to holiday there as a child and has been hankering to go back for ages.
So I'd be really grateful if all you lake district locals could give me some ideas as to which hotel would fit the bill.
