Paris with a 7yo

I may have the opportunity to have a weekend in Paris with 7yo dd. Any suggestions what we could do? Myself, I would overdose on art and walking, but I think dd could get a bit bored by that!

Also suggestions of good (cheap!) hotels? Central, I should think.

There are great playgrounds in the Jardins du Luxembourg and a puppet show.

Trip to the Eiffel Tower. The Bateaubus is a cheapish way of travelling up and down the Seine.

The Time Out guide recommends:

Egyptian mummies in the Louvre
Galeries des enfants at the Pompidou centre
Cite des Sciences
Cineaqua aquarium
Parc Zoologique in the Bois de vincennes
The tuileries
Jardin d'acclimatation in the Bois de Boulogne
Parc de Buttes-Chaumont

I want to go too now Grin

I asked dd whether she'd like to visit art museums with me - and she said yes Grin

So this is what I've decided to do:

Bateaux mouches (or similar),
Climb Notre Dame for the gargoyles and the Quasimodo connection,
Hotel Rodin for the sculpture garden,
L'Orangerie because it's small and therefore easy to see without getting boring, plus it has Monet's stunning waterlilies.
If it's a clear day we might go to Montmartre for the funicular, the view, and the peeing boy drinking fountain. Otherwise Pompidou and Les Halles.

I think that should be about right for one and a half days. I don't think we really have time to do la Villette justice - we'd basically spend the whole of one day there.

I haven't told dd we're going to Paris. This is going to be such a fabulous surprise for her. Grin Grin Grin

That sounds fab - just wondered if you've booked somewhere to stay, as I'm interested in taking my 7-year-olds to Paris next year too?

I've booked room only at a 2* place in the 5th arrondissement. Can't remember the name (Blush) I think it may be called Home Latin.

I'll let you know what it was like!

I am so looking forward to this!
