We are looking at a sailing holiday at Christmas

Does anyone have any experience of this Hotel or Tour Operator?

Yep - DD is getting increasing bored with our reading/sitting/general walking along with a new uinterest in Sailing

We thought it might be OK?

I've really agonised over this holiday

It's taken so much effort and it's not even booked yet

I am worried it will be anticlimatic (SP?) so to speak

This is one of the few Mark Warner places where there are a couple of downsides I'm afraid. Firstly the hotel is not exclusively Mark Warner (though they do have a MW only bit). Secondly whilst usually all the restaurant options are included for this one you have to pay extra if you eat at other than the main restaurant. On the plus side they're the first 5 star hotel under Mark Warner.

As a Tour Operator they're usually great and the kids will have a great time.

katymac · 06/09/2005 08:10

What's the main restaurant like?

Do you know?

I don't mind a bit extra - the website said $15 (not sure how much that is in english)

Great place to go with guaranteed weather, not boiling either for children, and at this time of year not a long flight, 4 hrs approx.

Mark Warner great with the children, can't beat them really. You can come and go at the clubs, you know what activities they are doing each day, drop them off go sailing, pick them up have lunch - bit of a breather/play, and then they can go back to club or you can go sailing.

Egypt sea is fantastic, warm clear and it's like being in the Finding Nemo movie, toddlers can be up to their bottoms in the water and the brightly coloured fish are there to see, wonderful experience.

This Mark Warner is brand new, so they will be really keen to make a go of it, and make you want to tell you friends all about it, it only opened at Easter, so there hasnt been any press about it yet.

Yes it is part of a big hotel resort, but Mark Warner have taken over a wing of it, built their own kids club and kids pool, they are running the watersports area, if there isn't enough to do you can pop next door and use their facilities and their restaurants which is a great idea. And at last 5 facilities, you can pay a fortune for a Mark Warner holiday (5 + prices) but the rooms are never much to write home about.

Also its not far from the airport!

That sounds much more positive
thanks

Any reason not to go to Egypt in the 'current political climate' ie is there any anti-Brit feeling expressed? I am v tempted by beach hol with DD and DS, but just wondered if it was a bit risky. (also remembering attacks on tourists at Luxor not so long ago) Likewise Tunisia, possibly Djerba, but again, is it risky to go there at the moment?
