Organised city-break for 6Os Widow - ideas?

My mother is in her early 60s and is ready to start going on holiday on her own.

Does anyone know of any companies / groups who organise city breaks that would suit her.

She is particularly interested in Barcelona - but any destination would be considered.

I have looked at Saga but would be interested to know if there are any other options.

Thanks,

Hi there

My parents go on a few of the tours organised by Shearings. There are quite often other single people on the trips that they do and they say they are a very social occasion. You don't have to go by coach - they do have trips where you fly.

Newmarket holidays do organised citybreaks ranging from short trips to longer ones. They also do many other holidays including long haul destinations.
I went on a citybreak with them last december for the Brussels and Bruges Christmas markets, with a girl friend. ( we are both over 40).We were picked up by the coach in our local town, and the majority of travellers were our age or older. They have a rep on board who stays with you the whole trip, and our hotel just outside Brussels was much better than we expected it to be for the cost. The coach dropped us off in Brussels and Bruges centre, and we could either stay with the rep, or go off on our own for the day.
We were very impressed by the hotel, organisation and rep.

My father in law has been going on holidays on his own with Saga for some years now, and seems to enjoy them.

Thanks for your suggestions.

Newmarket has a great looking break in Barcelona that my mum is looking at.

Any other suggestions also welcome!

The Brussels and Bruges Christmas Markets trip that I went on last December, is being advertised again. 3 days from £ 129.95. Includes all transport( coach and ferry or eurotunnel)hotel for 2 nts and breakfast, and services of a tour manager.
We had a full day in Brussels, and were able to watch the sound and light show in Grand Place after dark. The next day we had a morning in Bruges before heading for home.
