DD just sat fixed on dolphins on tv today (& normally doesnt care much for tv), but she was very uspet whe it was over and said "again, again", so I thought may be shed enjoy an aqaurium this week as dh is off too. Ive been to London one , how does the one at Brighton compare?

Much poorer than London Aquarium - much, much smaller and rather antiquated - dates back to Victorian times. But OK for a low key day out if you are nearby.

Day out? I mean a couple of hours (at most) as part of a day out.

I quite like old Victorian sometimes, thanx for the tip lonleymum.

i think it's quite nice. not been to london one so can't compare it!
if you find it isn't enough for a day out though you're right next to the pier and beach

I've been to both. I loved the Brighton aquarium. I think that your DD will as well.

The sea turtle "show" is interesting and strange.

I love the old victorian part of the aquarium (they did a lot of restoration work a few years ago)it always adds to the experience for me but then I have a vivid imagination! I like the contrast between the dim and dingy 'old' part and then being able to stand in the tunnel with sharks and turtles swimming over your head. It makes me wonder what the victorians would have thought of that!

Course, I'm so old I remember dolphins at Brighton. Glad they aren't there now though, poor things.

starlover · 04/09/2005 20:34

me too pixel! i had my birthday there once, watching the dolphin show

will we didnt make it to the aquarium yesterday(thought entrance a bit steep for last hour of the day!!), but we had a lovely lovely day in brighton anywhoo. I thouroughly reccommend it for all. Although we didnt see the lovely new paddling pool playground till going home time!! I think we have good reason to go back, felt like we were on hols somewere abroad, especially sitting on the beach with all the cool cafes behind us. May be I should start a Brighton day out thread for others to see as we didnt get a chance to do thre lanes or the pavillion. I reallky think its one of the coolest of all our seasides.
