We have a carioca ci 2007 van, 6 berth. Have been happily using it for 6 weeks at a time in france and the uk with our 2 11 yr old dss and 12 yr old ds so no need of carseats! But next year will hopefully have 6 month old so need advice on how to manage carseats for travelling, etc.

We have a 6 seater van with 4 seats around the diner bit. The two forward facing ones have full seatbelts and the younger two kids sit on those with their booster seats, and my eldest DD sits facing backwards with just a lap belt.

When we park up for the night we put the kids booster seats into the drivers or passenger seats to get them out of the way.

we hired a 6 seater van a few years ago and like flaime says, our one also had 4 seats around the table and two had proper seatbelts so we were able to put DD's car seat there

What about the first stage seat? The biscuits of the seats are removeable and I worry that they'll shift position under a light baby during travel. DH insists he'll have the seat tight but I worry. Has anyone contacted any of the RV makers?

we had a first stage car seat with a base.
I found you could pull the belt a lot tighter.
DD3 is now in a forwward facing seat, which is fine.

Our van is a McLouis Glen 650 (6 berth) and has the same removable seats so the diner converts into a bed. We have vecro straps which hold the upright cushion bit to the base cushion and we find that whilst the base cushions sometimes slide forward when the kids are sitting on them eating, when they are strapped in with booster seats and seatbelts the cushions stay in place really well.

Never tried it with a rear facing seat though sorry!

mollymax - wot sort of carsear base was it? Do you need isos or whatever it is called? Sorry am so out of date with all the jargon of modern day babyhood!

We had an Autotrail ,with the diner seatbelted seats .DD sat there ,but again was not rear facing. Could you put baby in front passenger seat ,it may have isofix and the cushions will definately not move.
Another alternative would be to have isofix points retro fitted on diner seat, hope that makes sense

It was a graco seat ( from newborn) can never remember what stage that is. The base is strapped into the van/car and the seat clipped on to it.

Many thanks ladies. Will carry out more research! Still would love more advice!
