First holiday taking 8 month old to Sorrento Italy - please talk to me

Hi there

We're off to Italy in a couple of days and just wondering if anyone can give me any advice.

Where can I buy nappies, baby food etc? I don't think I can take enough to last the whole 2 weeks from here. Is there a decent shop that is centrally located in Sorrento?

What's the best way to get formula through security?

How easy is it to get around? We're not taking a car seat or hiring a car so using buggy, walking, public transport etc.

Do any of the chefs in restaurants prepare food suitable for an 8 month old, i.e. without salt and mashed up etc? Apart from bread most finger foods I give DS end up on the floor at the mo. Or get chewed a bit then end up on the floor. I'm a bit worried about using bought jars since the ones in this country are so hideously awful, DS doesn't readily eat them on the few occasions we have tried (he obviously prefers my home cooking!).

Does anyone know how to say "please prepare that without any salt/sugar" in Italian?

Cheers!

Hello, you will love Sorrento. Whereabouts are you staying and are you going with a tour operator?
As far as formula through security. If you take powder and empty bottles then ask for water through security or buy ready made cartons when you are in departures. If you take bottles made up or cartons through security they will make you open and taste.

This might help

Thanks Pauline. We're staying in a posh hotel booked through Kuoni. That's a helpful website.

Reason I asked is because lots of tour operators can order you stuff for your room so you don't have to pack a billion things. We used Thomson affiliate one for our trip and it was brilliant. We got nappies, wipes, toiletries and milk for 8 month old DD. Looks like Kuoni do one too but not sure how pricey it is

Just back from Sorrento - there is a fab ice cream shop on the main street that sells over 70 flavours. Some lovely restaurants and a pebbley but shallow beach down near the harbour.

Buses are very easy to use, streets were fine for a buggy.

Have a fab time
