Help! I promised the kids a trip to the zoo but chester zoo is really expensive now so we have decideed to wait till after half term. So we decided to go to clumber park instead and hire bikes. But the site is full. Aghhhhh. I feel really thwarted.

So help me please - can you suggest somewhere good to camp for one night (can be basic) near Clumber Park?

Or can you suggest an alternative around the Peak District where we can do a lovely cycle ride instead so we don't have to travel far.

Really fancied visiting the mighty oak etc though

Beechwood park in between nottingham and Derby

£16 a night for a family of 4 without electricity. It is a few hundrad yards from a huge country park....very like clumber tbh which has bridleways so is ace for cycling!!!!!

They have a website

www.beechwoodparkleisure.co.uk/

And I got in there a week before bank holiday so I think you would get in OK

Try the ukcampsite website; it has a section where you can search for campsites in specific areas.

did someone say camping?

mumtosomeone · 05/09/2005 08:40

did you get away?!

Katherine · 05/09/2005 10:35

Hi mumtosomeone - no we didn't. We decideed tp book clumber for a few weeks time and stay closer to home this weekend but in the end all the good places were full so we went to the Chatsworth Show instead and went for a bike ride round Tittesworth REservoir on Sunday. Still had a lovely weekend.

Is it just me or are we needing to book camping ahead more these days. Is it getting more popular?

Thanks for all the suggestions though.
