The Ngorongoro Crater is a unique ecosystem existing in a natural crater formed over million of years following a volcanic eruption.

The wildlife have traditionally led a secluded (not now sadly) and protected life and rarely needed to venture out of the crater as all they need is found within.

This means that within a relatively small area you can see such a vast wealth of animals and birds, not to mention different geographical features, marshes, woodland and plains for instance.

It is truly a remarkable place and I recommend you all go and visit it someday, perhaps when tourism is better controlled and you are not viewing the animals alongside 10 other mini buses of Japanese tourists. Grin

It is excellent. You could spend a day there and see everything on your list. There are some great lodges on the rim. I went in 1994 though when there weren't many mini buses. I'd hate that.
