I'm going on my first ever one next month. I don't have to attend the welcome meeting do I on the first day? I want to be by the pool. I'm not interested in booking any excursions, I've found out all I need to know about the hotel and resort from Tripadvisor. If I have a problem or question I can find them another time can't I?

Is there some benefit to this meeting I don't know about?

no none at all - usually you get a free "local" drink, reps tell you about excursions and try to persuade you to book !, depending on the size of your hotel the rep should be available at some point every day. hope u have a good time.

The only possible benefit is knowing about kids clubs and maybe meeting other families at the meeting. If you did fancy an excursion, it is nearly always cheaper to arrange it yourself and you have more control over timings etc.

Have a lovely time, where are you going?

Going to Sharm el Sheike. DD is too old for kids' clubs. There's a big aquapark at the hotel so I think we'll just be in the pools all the time.

We don't normally attend the welcome meeting. We went to one the first time we booked a package holiday and it was basically the rep trying to sell excursions.

In your hotel there should be a poster showing when the rep will be at the hotel and contact details for other times.

Have a great holiday.
