Nepal- tea question

Hello
Not sure if this is where I should ask this, but here goes. My friend is going to Nepal and I asked her to bring me back some tea. I was wondering what is a nice black tea?

Probably a really dumb question, but thought I'd ask.Blush

Not a dumb question at all.

One of the most famous teas in Nepal is called

Ilam Estate Black tea.
Has a Darjeeling like character. It is grown high up in the mountains and is high in antioxidants.

I drank a lot of it when I visited there(Anapurna Range) and the second cup (on the same leaves - no milk sugar) always tasted better than the first.
Seemed to help with the high altitude, too.

I'm sure your friend will have a fabulous time and the tea is a nice memento of her trip - plus everything else there is to buy.
:O

You could also ask her to bring back some spiced tea (has cardamom, cloves etc blended into the tea) which is served with milk and sugar in Nepal and tastes rather like liquid rice pudding (a bit like Indian Masala Chai), but is even better black. Ginger tea is nice too and sustained me during my time hiking in the Anapurnas.

Thank-you for your replies. She is in Nepal now, but I can send her the info via facebook. Thanks again!
