I have recklessly just bought an Alpine Chalet to rennovate and rent out. Have never done anything like this before and would like to know how I should market it where did you look for you holiday villa did you just google a few key words or see an ad in those villa magasines you see in WHS?

www.holidaylettings.co.uk
www.holiday-rentals.co.uk
www.interhome.com

However I havent ever gone for a chalet so dont know if this is a more specialist market.

As a general rule I look for words like 'simply furnished'. Words like 'tasteful' and 'antiques' tend to make me look elsewhere as we are a family of 5 so dont want to be responsible for destroying family heirlooms.

Good luck with your new venture. Take lots of before, during and after photos so that you can see what you have achieved.

We have a house in Spain but don't rent it. But we found it by looking at local builders and they linked us to some local letting agencies ( in case we change our minds)

A good letting agency will not only organise clients for you but do things like pre-rental cleans and welcome packs plus maintainance.

Google as if you want to rent and then contact those agencies about renting out

Owners Direct are good and cheaper because not paying commission to a middle man.

I have a house in Orlando and advertise in a professional journal every month

Owners Direct - I have rented through them and also have a friend who rents out her gites through them. They seem to have a fairly user-friendly system for both sides.

James Villas, Solmar Villas and Villa Plus.

If it is a ski chalet then you may find some of the more general villa brochures less useful (tend to be beach or ) Would second Interhome and also use the resort tourist office website/brochures. Maybe Iglu.com if they take independent properties. Classifieds in ski and snowboard magazines, Ski Club of Great Britain, the various artificial snow slopes etc. Bear in mind it may also appeal to non-Brits whose school holidays will vary from ours so it may increase you letting potential if you can find more international agents.

Take a look at www.laymyhat.com/forum/ Lots of information from other owners and lots of discussions about advertising sites.
