Nice cafe for lunch - St Pauls/city of London?

I am after a suggestion for a cheap and delicious place for a sandwich lunch near St Pauls - any one know the area?
I am treating my Mum to an 80th birthday weekend and we will have just checked in at the hotel before going to the theatre at 2 -so anywhere to refuel where you can sit down would be fab.
Thanks

There's actually a cafe in the crypt at St Paul's - might be a memorable place to go?
I've not been myself, but heard good reports from colleagues when I was working up there.

Not sure if you need to book though - the website implies you do, but maybe that's just the restaurant.

there are lots of places!

On the road called St Paul's Churchyard there is a Gourmet Burger Kitchen, a sushi place, Cafe Rouge and various pasta places, all chains, mid-priced and reliable.

In Paternoster Square there is a Pret a Manger and a Starbucks, more sushi. If it's nice you can sit outside in the square - buy from M&S simply food which is there. Queues are long in M&S but move really fast. There is a bakery called Paul very close to the Cathedral, french cakes mainly but also some sandwiches.

Can you tell where I work?! I have been here 10 years and Blush never heard of the cafe in the crypt.
