Berlin is fantastic - definitely worth visiting is Checkpoint Charlie (if only to get a photo next to it), the nazi underground museum - truly horrific. Then, the memorial to the holocaust victims - it bears the names of all the victims.

On a lighter note, cafe einstein - austrian food (I know you're in Germany but it's defintely worth a visit) - www.cafeeinstein.com - food is fantastic and service is brilliant, not pricey either. Well worth a beer and some apple strudel.

Have a lovely time.

We went about 7 or so years ago. It was great weather so the gardens at Charlottenberg Palace were smashing, and strolling along the Under der Linden, stopping off for coffee and cakes, or beer.

We went a couple of years ago - I second Checkpoint Charlie (there's a very quirky, interesting museum) and the Holocaust memorial. Brandenburg gate is well worth a visit - and at Alexander Platz there's a panoramic space needle type thing you can go up, and there's often a market, I think. A great department store there, too. The Broken Church is very moving - a bombed church, which has links with a bombed church in Coventry.

It really is a fantastic city - I was blown away by it. The food was generally poor - the best meal we had was at an Italian! Transport is amazing - scarily efficient and easy to navigate.
