Any recommendations for a shorthaul European holiday destination with the majority of attractions in a flat walkable distance from each other? About to book first holiday with a 6 month old and rather anxious about getting it right! Any tips appreciated re car seats, good airlines and anything a first time Mum wouldn't think of.

Hello!
There are a few websites which specialise in finding places specifically for families. One that springs to mind is babyfriendlyboltholes.co.uk
They offer quite a few European places, and give you an idea of the sort of things to look out for from a provider - feeding facilities, cots etc...
A few also let you do an online shop of stuff to arrive at your destination ready for you when you get there, to save you carrying loads of nappies in your luggage etc.. (although I've never used this service so I can't say if it's reliable)
I also like the Guardian newspaper's travel section, which often has some good hints for family travel. I think the most important thing is to give loads of time to travel and keep lists of the stuff you need, both for before you travel and when you're packing to go so you don't forget anything.
Have a great time!

we went to berlin when ds was exactly 6 months. it was good as the flight was really short, we didn't need to use taxis when we were there as the transport system was so good and so didn't need a car seat, although i was sick at the end of the holiday and the hotel ordered us a taxi with a baby seat. loads to do and we ate out with ds every night and he/we were made welcome everywhere.

good luck and have a good holiday!

:)
