review or advert?

I've just joined this forum in order to review the place where we've just had our holiday.
Correct me if i'm wrong but most of what passes as reviews turns out to be adverts by the holiday provider; with the option for them to 'upgrade' their review for a charge of £250
I don't like this

what?

mayday86 · 28/08/2010 15:27

skss
What do you mean by 'what'
It appears to be as I said
'What!' doesn't clarify anything and is not at all helpful

Adverts are adverts and shouldn't be disguised as unbiased reviews

I meant what as what you. Typed makes no sense.

Are you saying if you put a review on this site you will be accused of it being an ad?.. or has this happened to you elsewhere.

Or are you complaining about other people doing this.

Trying to be helpful but op is not clear. So stop being so touchy.

No, I think that most of the reviews are just that - reviews. Looking at the shorthaul holiday page I can't see that any of them appear to have been "upgraded". I think that that is a recent generic option across all of the review categories, not specifically the holiday ones, though I could be wrong.

Hi May and thanks for your question. Rest assured the reviews section is completely user generated.

Only once a product has been reviewed by a MNetter, do we allow the company to upgrade. This allows the company to add their own images and information to the product. This information is clearly distinguished from MNetter reviews so as not to cause any confusion.

If you see a review that you feel is completely biased or fraudulent, then please do report it to us (via the report this post button to the right of the posters name) and we will look into it.

I hope this helps to clarify the process.
