Car that fits 3 car seats!

I'm probably posting this in the wrong place! We're looking to buy a new car, and want one that fits 3 car seats, all in one row. We still need boot space, and masses of it for camping trips. Has anyone got any recommendations?

we have a crysler voyager but its over 3 rows but when I posted similar question a lot of people recommended tourans and zafiras.

We used to have a Mondeo. When I had twins plus 3 year old we realised the answer was to buy different brand car seats so that one overlapped the other one a bit (they weren't all the same height) and then they all fitted in.

Good idea about different car seats, hadn't thought of that. How's the boot space in the Chrysler?

we love our peugeot escapade. its a bit like the tepee. Sliding doors are v handy. Huge boot. We take canoes and bikes on it too.

Thanks halfmumhalfbiscuit! can you fit 3 car seats in?

We have a citreon C8 and have three car seats in the back all different sizes. The boot is huge when the two rear seats are removed and all the rear seats are separate and removable. Think there is a fiat and peugeot version of the same car, don't think they make it new anymore but sure they must have replaced it with something if you are looking for a brand new car.

ChippyMinton · 26/08/2010 21:25

Ford SMAX. IMO it's the definitive family car. Huge boot or a couple of extra seats when needed. Three separate seats in the second row. Can't recommend highly enough.

scrambled · 26/08/2010 21:27

We had thought about a citroen - not after brand new and there don't seem to be many second hand ones around. We've heard quite bad things about the peugeot version, which has been slightly off putting. Would love to buy brand new, but max budget is around five thou!

SMAX is still too new for any cheap second hand ones! Thanks though x

That's a shame. Mondeo estate would be a good bet.

girlsyearapart · 27/08/2010 10:34

I like our chrylser, the boot is not massive- fits the phil and teds and a full sainsburys shop though.

The seats in the middle have an aisle in between though so you can put lots in between and if you only need 3 car seats you get two extra seats to put stuff on in the back.

Think ours cost about 6 grand its a 2004.

parachute · 27/08/2010 10:35

We've got a ford galaxy. Tis huge and would do 3 seats plus you have 2 spare or boot space.

neolara · 27/08/2010 10:41

Vauxwagen Touran.

Thanks everyone for your help! We've got a better idea where to start looking - my hubbie spotted a C8 on the way home so fingers crossed!

we have a land rover discovery which i love and adore despite having been terrified about driving such a big bus before we got it.

3 kids all fit in the back quite happily as middle seat is full size. huge boot. boot has 2 extra seats you can pull up.

love love love it, total joy to drive, and because it's square, its easy to park.

castleonthehill · 28/08/2010 19:54

I have a C4 grand picasso it has 3 issofix points and 2 extra seat in the boot. We go on lots of camping trips and fit everything in including a fridge. Don't know where you buy them but there must be some where to get x motability car as they often have low mileage and have been main dealer looked after. They have to change them every three years.

scrambled · 28/08/2010 21:28

Exciting news! We bought a Mercedes Vito Traveliner today - it's a huge tank like thing but no shortage of space!

have fun driving it Smile

preghead · 03/09/2010 22:06

i know what you're saying about the prices but could thouroughly recomend the SMAX too - we're on our second. With the new 2010 model update are the original 2006 ones more affordable now?

Isla77 · 12/09/2010 22:17

Which car for 4 children, 2 adults and decent boot space?

Ell32009 · 15/09/2010 17:07

Depending on age of children - we have Volvo XC90 and we have two in car seats and one on in-built booster, there are also two seats in the back and I can still fit in double buggy and other things!

Ell32009 · 15/09/2010 17:08

Should also say you can put booster seat in the back seats - not sure about other sorts of car seats though.
