Which airline are you using?.

I would buy a seat for her. She could well feel very heavy on your lap after a relatively short period of time.

Buy a seat. We did from 1 year old on longhaul. Couldn't imagine a 2 stone child on my knee for 13 hours. Please remember how tight seats are on these flights and the fact that you are likely to be next to some other people so space will be tiny therefore your daughter won't be able to lie out/stretch out. She won't even be able to stand on the floor so having her own seat gives her some space and some extra space for you too to be able to enjoy a meal (ok, well may be not enjoy airline food!) and a glass of wine!
