Rainy day activities for toddlers near Alnwick/Morpeth

The slightly embarrassing thing is that I've been visiting this area my whole life: my Grandma lived here for 30 years. It's not like I don't know about the glories of Warkworth Castle or Druridge Bay.

What I don't really know much about are activities that are possible and, preferably, fun with a 21mo who is a bit prone to falling over when running in wellies. We are staying in a static caravan with limited washing/drying facilities. There is a laundrette but I'm aiming for dry fun rather than tumble dryer watching.

We did Alnwick Castle today, with limited success. I'm sure it is fabulous when dry but we had to wring DS out and pop him on an airer when we got home.

Is the Castle Mania soft play thingy good? What else is a good outing?

Hayulp!

I don't know if it is called Castle Mania or something else - it's a big playbarn on outskirts of Alnwick. Woudl give you a few hours and sometimes they do activities (painting etc). The small softplay is kept separate from larger one from what I recall and there was papers and coffee. Alnmouth as a beach is nice I always think and there's a playground near the estuary. You could at a stretch always go to seahouses - bit of a drive but probably more things to do if you like rockpooling, amusements, fish and chips, etc.
