Morocco - currency to take?

I know that you can't take Moroccan currency out of the country so need to buy it when you arrive.

Question is - do I take Pounds or Euros?

And where do I change it - in a bank, or are there bureaux de change there?

You may like to take US dollars.

They are more welcome than Euros or GB pounds.

By the way, don't be shy about bargaining. It is expected and it seems to me that nothing is a ridiculous sum to start with. Our guide recommended half of the price given by the seller.

If you are going to visit a moroccan village (trips available) take some small gifts with you, not cash. The children are pleased with pencils, colouring books, balls and hats, gloves etc. Even in the summer they have about 4 layers of clothing on.

we always just go to the bank at the airport. i don't think I've ever visited a money exchange place there. guess you could take a hundred quid in case of emergencies as well.

We just changed it at the airport when we arrived, and I am pretty sure we just took sterling. It's an amazing and wonderful country - loved every minute I spent there.
