Folkestone is nice, athough the nicest beach is the warren, which i a fair walk, down a path near the cliffs, its quiet, small, sheltered, but a fair amount of big rocks at the sides, good for rock pools. Its not the main beach in the town, which is busier. Camber is lovely, but very busy road to get there, can take forever if the weather is nice. V big beach though, lots of room, v sandy, lots of sand dunes. Not much else there though, maybe drinks etc in a kiosk. Apart from that, not sure where else is sandy - Rye I dont think has a beach? Lovely town though, very pretty with nice shops!
St Marys bay is nice too, think its sandy there, all of that bit of coast is really. Also Ramsgate is nice, from what I remember, (last went about 5 years ago) they have done a fair bit of work to the marina etc, so may be nice if you want town beaches with other things to do.

Frinton in Essex is lovely too parking on the road side although you may have a little walk but fine for a 2 year old. Just up the coast is Walton on the naze and that's quite lively.
