France car hire & car seat

We're off to France (if strikes don't stop us) early Sept, flying to Toulouse. It's our first time abroad with our 14mo DD. We've hired a car and child car seat but I'm wondering whether this us safe enough or if we should be taking our own car seat?
What to other wise mumsnet mums do?

TIA

if she will still fit in a carry one I would deficiently take it. I probably would still take one as the one you will get will be basic and may be old and you may not know how to put it in the car very well.

I went on holiday with a friend she hired a seat it was really bad and we couldn't get it tight.

After horrible experience I would never ever trust hire companies seat. Since then I have always taken a car seat even when it was the huge group 2 seat. Never had any problems on any airline with car seats.

Plus they are probably charging you a lot for that seat.
