Yikes! Need stopover ideas around Reims area.

So I said to DH, "It will be fine, we'll find a little somewhere to stay around the Reims area, it will be dead easy".

Not if you leave it until two days before and have three children (including a baby) with you, it isn't! Everywhere we can afford in Reims looks full. Very full. Other places ban under twos or claim we exceed maximum occupancy even if I lie about how many people we have (i.e. leave the baby out of it).

WTF do we do???? HEEEEEELPPPP!

May the power of MN rescue us ....

There is an Ibis that we stay in regularly - have you checked that?

Otherwise try the Logis de France website and see if there is anything in there? There are several good Logis near to Epernay which is about 30 mins south of Reims.

I found a chambre d'hote through Alasdair Sawday's France. There is a good website you can search by map area and then contact them direct. There are 5 of us and I managed to find a family room.

Can you stop of a little earlier near Laon perhaps? I have heard Reims gets busy because as well as people from the UK doing stop overs, there are also people from northern Europe.

Thanks for this, people.

Could find nothing via Logis de France but maybe I was selecting the wrong things?

I am going to try the Ibis suggestion next and Epernay sounds promising. May not have time to post with results before we leave but will at some point.

www.hotelbb.com?
How about booking two rooms - we have 3 DCs - girls in one room, boys in the other. This deals with the over occupancy.

If the worst comes to the worst you can sleep in the car in a motorway service station (we have done this). It isnt great but better than nothing

Good luck

Right
We have a roof

Working on AliBaba's suggestion, I appear to have successfully booked a room at the Ibis in Epernay. I would indeed have liked two rooms, but the system wouldn't let me. Does anyone know if they are like Travelodge rooms and have a sofa bed, as it seems to say they sleep up to four people? If not, we had better take the kids' sleeping bags and get the kipping on the floor. We have a travel cot for the baby.

I AM THE MAN!

I tried booking another room and it has let me do so for a mere 10 euros more.

I am soooo chuffed. We have a nice place to stay!!

Thank you to MNetters all.
