Last minute panic, flying tomorrow - Flybe & baggage?

We are flying to Jersey tomorrow.

I booked it ages ago and I was sure that it said we had 30kg allowance each.

Printed out the info today to take with us and reading through the bumf it talks about 'pre-booking baggage', I think oh well I may as well look online and see what that's all about (duh!), have problems logging into Flybe and then my account gets suspended.

Call Technical Support - shut until Monday Hmm.
Customer Services shut until tomorrow morning.

So I obviously can't pre-book any baggage now anyway.

DH says never mind we'll just pay whatever it is but what are we likely to get charged?
I can't see anything specific on the Flybe website, it just mentions 'prevailing rate'.

Anyone flown recently with Flybe and not pre-booked baggage? How much did it cost you?

From the website:
* Flybe Economy Plus passengers can carry up to 40kg free of charge
* By paying in advance for 1 bag, Flybe Economy passengers can carry up to 20kg in a single bag or, by paying in advance for a second bag, increase the allowance to 40kg

The maximum permissible weight, for health and safety reasons, for any single item of checked in baggage is 30kg.

And then

Baggage Terms and Conditions

* Economy passengers may carry up to eight bags in the aircraft hold
* A discounted rate of per one way flight is charged for the first bag booked on flybe.com
* No refunds are given on this discounted rate
* Payment must be made in full by either cash or credit/debit card
* Split forms of payment are not permitted
* The maximum permissible weight for a single item of checked in baggage is 30kg
* Flybe Economy Plus passengers may carry bags up to the allowance of 40kg free of charge
* Cabin baggage will be weighed and must fit into the gauge at the airport
* Bags exceeding either size or weight will be checked into the aircraft hold, charges will apply
* Unaccompanied Minors may carry one bag free of charge
* An excess baggage charge will be levied at the airport for passengers carrying over their allowance. Charges may vary for franchise or code share routes not operated by Flybe, and will be applied at the prevailing rate when payment is made
* No refunds will be given if more bags are booked than are carried
* Any bag containing sharp items must be checked into the aircraft hold
* Passengers travelling on a through ticket with an international flight sector on a different carrier will not be charged
* Both sectors must be on the same ticket using a through fare. Passengers travelling on two flights that share a single flight number, e.g. Belfast to Jersey connecting through Gatwick, will be charged a single baggage fee for both flights. If however your flights are not on a single flight number (one flight number all the way through) then single charges will apply per sector
* Infants do not receive a baggage allowance
* Flybe reserves the right to vary the baggage charges without prior notice
* Charges will be applied at the prevailing rate at the time the bags are booked

Thanks Hassled, but what does it mean??

Assuming we are Economy not Economy Plus (though I don't know either way!), and we turn up with approx 10/15kgs luggage each, what will it cost us?

Found it!.
£18 for a £20kg suitcase

JustKeepSwimming · 13/08/2010 21:42

Thanks!

Well that's bearable, 4 x 18 = 72, not ideal, but doable. mostly i just needed to prepare!

Well just to let you know I am a total idiot, i rang this morning, and i've already pre-booked our baggage Blush

Did it in March when i booked the flights.

Could try and use the pg brain excuse but seeing as i'm only just pg not sure it will wash!
