Where shall we go this weekend? Zoo?

We want to do something this weekend, dh, ds (16 months) and me. As we have no pets Dh thinks ds would like the zoo, and wanted to go into London to go to London Zoo. As we are in berkshire though, I feel this is a bit of a waste (At least £40 on trains, then zoo, london prices etc) and thought maybe Marwell.

Do you think ds would like it? Any other zoos? Or other ideas? We're a bit skint but would like to do something.

Could be too young to get much out of zoo, imho, I'd go somewhere you would enjoy, too. Is there not a zoo you could go to more locally and for less cost?

Duxford are doing their annual show/thingie next weekend, next county from you. My local train company (One) is offering a combined deal on train fares and admission. My 16m old would have enjoyed the aeroplanes there!

Go to a working farm, where do you live?

We've been to a local kid's 'action farm' which was nice. The duxford thing might be nice, but ds isn't interested in planes, (or trains, or cars....) he just doesn't notice they're there...

Battersea Zoo is lovely for little ones. It's recently been refurbished and has small animals only there. It's also cheap to get into. Perhaps could combine it with something else to do in London.

Went to Marwell last week for MY birthday!!! DS (9) had a fabby time, and DD (10m) loved the animals, espec. the penguins and the lemurs. Take a picnic, though, the cafe is pants
