Just returned from 2 weeks in Algarve, for 2nd year running. DH wants to book up again, I desperately want to do something different! Really would like to try France, but very ignorant. Priorites would be pool and near beach - I can happily trawl through Owners Direct/Holiday Lettings etc, or wondered about a lovely campsite type thing with nice accommodation? NOT Eurocamps - too expensive. We paid £650 for a week in Algarve, big spacious apartment. Similar price range. Anyone know of any little gems?

Try Yelloh Village or Siblu? Can't remember how expensive Yelloh Village was compared to Keycamps but IIRC it was cheaper.

Siblu is not cheap - especially in school holidays! If you want the South of France, 650 a week is pushing it. I would do an advanced search on Holidayrentals.co.uk....

We went to Vendee with Carisma - would happily recommend them. No idea if it fits with your pricing structure.

look at brochures for Eurocamps etc then contact the campsites direct for better prices.

For kids and fab beaches, I would recommend either the vendee (west Atlantic coast) or Brittany (less flat, far mroe pretty). Nice beaches too but not as guaranteed weather.
Vendee has fabbo water parks.

I would totally recommend the Languedoc. There is SO much to see and do, you aren't just tied to going to the beach!

Happy to advise in more detail if you are interested

If you shop at Tesco, you can use your Tesco vouchers towards a holiday with Siblu. They have about a dozen campsites all the way down the west coast. We have stayed at La Pignade in Ronce-les-Bains in the Charente Maritime area courtesy of Tesco a few years ago and I would happily go back again.

costagirl · 11/08/2010 09:00

Thanks for all your suggestions - the Siblu park La Pignade looks just what I wanted. Makes me realise how well we've done finding villas & apartments in Portugal for £650 a week though!!! £1000 for a caravan seems a lot in comparison. Thanks for your help.

we had a week in Languedoc staying in a mobile home with Thomson Alfresco for £200 in the May / June half term. Weather was 25 degrees+ but windy at times. We had a brilliant time!

We are going to the Vendee here in a couple of weeks in the biggest villa with pool (there are 8 of us) and we paid 900 euros. It looks fab - there are loads of places on the website, and cheaper of course if there are less of you.

rosy71 · 14/08/2010 20:48

We have been with Eurocamp, but most of the campsites you can book direct. We've also been with Hoseasons; if you go on their website, they have holiday parks in Europe and also villas.

AgentProvocateur · 14/08/2010 21:27

I was going to recommend Les Sables in the Vendee, but I see MmeRedWhiteandBlueberry got here first. Wink

We went at different times, but both loved it.

We had two great weeks here We stayed in the cottage not the manor house!!

Really lovely, helpful owners, loads of space, great pool and wonderful market at Royan.

If you book direct, it's much cheaper than going via another certain company that specialises in sending children to France Wink
