London calling. Going to a matinee so waht else to do?

We got matinee tickets as part of the kids week think with Ticketmaster and I'm thinking of making more of a day of it.

I was thinking maybe either the natural history or science museum but the matinee starts at 2.30 and I'm wondering if we'll have time for either of them.

I also wondered about maybe going on a duck tour ride. It means we can walk from waterloo and to the theatre without having to drag the kids around the underground.

The kids are 10 and 4 by the way.

Any other ideas OR advice / recommendations for the things I've already mentioned?

I loved the duck tour - great fun for adults as well as kids. London Eye (walkable from Waterloo)? Pelicans in St James's Park? Seeing the street artists / performers in Covent Garden?

Are you arriving into Waterloo? What time do you think you'll arrive?

yes if we get the train in we'll arrive at Waterloo. Just checked duck tours and they are all booked up which is a real shame!

Ah, you could easily catch a bus to Covent Garden (not far), or London Eye very short walk from Waterloo, or walk round the Southbank (lots of places to eat lunch there), or bus to St Paul's Cathedral, or to Trafalgar Square (National Gallery or National Portrait Gallery - both have kids activities / quizzes etc), and then possibly walk down Whitehall to see Downing St and the Houses of Parliament? Er, not all of these things in one morning, obviously!
