Brimham Rocks in Yorkshire

Me again with another great day out in Yorkshire. Its a National Trust place south west of ripon. £5 to park all day if you arent members and thats it. Its a huge piece of land/moorland with great big rock formations (house sized and bigger) that the children (& adults!) can just climb on. May sound a bit boring/tame but our theme park mad children aged 8 & 11 and their couch potato parents spent 5 hours there. You need long trousers as ours had shorts on and got scraped knees. There are limited refreshments so take a picnic. Dogs are allowed and there is a buggy/wheelchair friendly footpath

I third this - my dcs age 4 & 6 loved Brimham Rocks and my urbanite dh was shocked to discover he really enjoyed it too. Lots to explore, trails and maps to follow, wild bilberries to forage and amazing views and photo opportunities. It is easy to get back to the car for your picnic and older children would enjoy it as well. If you're heavily into health and safety then it's not for you as there are no safety rails - so just stick to the paths and enjoy the views. A wonderful natural playground and the car park was £4 for the day.
