Me too! Where are you going to?

Have bought lots of immodium (for grownups) and dioralyte for everyone. Have also stocked up on hand gels (3 for 2 in M&S). We're also taking probiotics (tablets for adults and powders for kids) from today until we've been back for a week.

In terms of sun protection, I've bought a few UV suits, UV swim hats, big floppy hats and sunglasses for the DSs. I will be stocking up on lots of high factor suntan lotion in the next few days.

I'm hoping if we get the boys into the holiday clubs at the hottest times of day, step up (bottled) water intake and be generally careful with hygiene and sun exposure, that we'll have a good time!

We've had Hep A jabs, but I've decided against any other types of jab since we are also AI, and don't really expect to do any extreme trips or eat outside the complex. Apparently if you get a tummy bug whilst you're over there, it's worth visiting a local pharmacist who could sell you antibiotics that are specific to the local bugs.

I've read that there is a chance of rabies over there, so avoid petting local animals, and also some wierd bug which can be found in lake/pond water, so don't go paddling apart from in the sea.

HTH!

That's right immodium and the like doesn't work in Egypt. The pharmacist will no doubt give you antinal which works within the hour and costs no more than a £1.

Have fun, we went at Xmas and were all fine and just took sensible precautions.

We are off to Hurghada on Tues 10th, bought some general tummy upset tablets from Asda, got suncream hats etc..long sleeve tops and bottoms lightweight.

Don't intend to go paddling in any ponds or rivers, just the red sea and pool.

Had all jabs DD me & DH (he has been to Africa recently so he is jabbed up for eberything)

Just keeping fingers crossed and going for it. I am a bit of a wet lettuce when it comes to going abroad and get anxiety if I ever have to leave the UK, but if I didn't take the plunge I would have to miss out!

Have fun fourarms, where are you flying from?

Dont take immodium!!!! Go to the hotel doctor if it's really bad - you will get really dehydrated. We went at the beginning of July - It is inevitable that you will get some tummy reaction - probably just as likely from food as change in temperature, different water and breathing in swimming pool water at the wrong moment ( yuk! ) Make sure you drink LOTS and get a little more salt and sugar than usual. We didnt bother with dioralyte - just used flat lemonade ( which tastes better!) Have a great trip!

Cool, cheers guys. Looking forward to this as it is much needed.

Havent got Imodium, tablets we have bought are apprently good for adults and kids and for light tummy upsets and holiday tummy (is what it says on the packet)

We're flying from Bristol to Sharm. Am very excited, but hoping for no severe tummy issues. Will be packing some pull-ups for the DSs just in case though (my two are prone to diahorrea at the slightest food change anyway!). I remember when we were in the Dom Rep to get married, I had an almost constant dodgy tummy, but it meant I could eat cake and drink cocktails to my hearts content (think the quantity of fruit cocktails may have been a contributing factor!) & still lost weight and fitted into my wedding dress in the second week!

Cool, enjoy!!
