We are off to N Wales (Llanberris) with our 23 month old for a week next week. We have been 100s of times before but in days before DS, so our days of hillwalking, rock climbing and mountain biking be will be a little limited!

Any suggestions for things to do in and around Snowdonia with a very active nearly-2 year old?

Already thinking of - beach (we usually go to Newborough, but open to sugguestions), Coed-y-Brennin trail centre, Snowdon Mountain railway and Sundown Adventure Land.

Ideas for toddler-able walks and bike rides (in bike seat!) would be welcome too.

this isn't in far enough as it's just outside Prestatyn but might be a worthwhile stop-off on the way in or way out for a run about.

greenfield valley

took our dcs here last week, including our 23mth old and they all loved it.

we only went as far as llandudno. took them all down a mine on the great orm and again they all loved it. maybe you could find the slate mines aroung Betwys-Coed.

Greenwood Forest Park is a good day out

Lots of walks around Llanberis - the Slate Museum is nice.

Portmeirion is another good day out - the beach there (well estuary really, can't see the sea) is nice and flat for littlies. And Porthmadog has lots of nice shops

There are walks around Beddgelert (and the story is a lovely one). I can't remember whereit start now, but there is a great one that goes through an old railway tunnel and you have to take torches - you can see light at each end, but it is pitch black in the middle.

Aber falls is another lovely walk - and there are often wild ponies along the trail.

Can't beat a good castle either. Penrhyn for the gardens, Caernarfon for the sheer 'castliness' and Conway is beautiful. So is Dolbadarn castle (well tower really) in Llanberis

So many great places! We'll be up there next week

Might run into you Lion! You have reminded me of all the places we used to take my (now teenage) nephews!

I will second Lionstar's suggestion of Greenwood. We took our two yr old last year and he loved it.
