Where is best for warm cheap hol in Oct half term?

DS starts school in September and so we must now join the ranks of families with school age children hunting for that elusive bargain basement sunshine half term break! This will be a new experience for us and we're just wondering where will be reasonably warm - tshirt weather would be enough- but not too long a flight? any suggestions gratefully received!

Cyprus or Turkey?
Canary Islands will def be hot.

It may not be roasting but we will be going to Portugal this October (but beginning of the month).
Several people who have been assure me it will be nice weather then! I hope so!

ooh sounds interesting... We normally go self catering anyway (fussy DS's!) so it's not such a big issue if the season has finished and the restaurants are shut.

We went self catering to the Loire Valley last September/October and it was averaging 26ºc. We drove there but you can get flights to Poitier airport, about a 2 hour drive away from Chateauroux where we were.

Obviously no beaches, but our house had a pool . And the area was beautiful, with boat rides down the river and country walks if that's your thing.

thanks keegan and second, will have a look at both - but ideally would like to be near abeach (have two little boys who love the beach and are VERY active!)

We are thinking of going to Menorca - went there in August last year and was v.hot but will have cooled down by October. It's only a 2 hour flight which is fab, last year we had day time flights in middle of day which could not have been better!
