Car seats in Greece

Does anyone have any experience of hiring carseats while on holiday in Greece?

We are going at the beginning of September with DS who will be 16 months. We have a rear-facing carseat in this country which is so big I can't lift it, would cost a fortune to take as excess baggage, and might well not fit in the car once we get there and we'll only be making two car journeys during the stay - from and to the airport by taxi.

Does anyone know whether it would be possible to hire just a carseat from a carhire company? I don't even know what the rules are regarding children travelling in cars in Greece.

Hi,
We went to Paxos when DD was 18 months and had a hire car booked with a carseat, but when we arrived there was no seat. We were told in Greece the rules are slack and hardly anyone used them so we struggled to find one, eventually someone lent us their own one (he was one of the dock workers!) as i really didn't like to take the risk.

I would suggest ensuring the seat is booked through your travel agent before you go and check a few times before you leave, mainland Greece might be better but Paxos was a shambles really.

PS we used a good hire car company (or so we thought) through Olympic Holidays.
