Can we have a quick brainstorming session on what I could possibly need for DD whilst on holiday. Going for 12 days to Portugal and I want to cover every eventuality, I'm actually quite nervous !
DD is 14 mths btw.

suncream
calpol
lots of sunhats
aftersun?

moondog · 22/08/2005 20:42

Errrrrrrr...nothing really!
(My ds is 13 months,we do a fair bit of travelling and apart from nappies and some wet wipes, don't need anything else.)
You'll need some Factor 50 suncream, swimmers, hat and some sort of buoyancy aid perhaps?

hermykne · 22/08/2005 20:44

pool seat
swim suit!
parasol
bite cream
diorlyte - for diarhea just in case
calamine for bites (does portugal have midgies?)

hermykne · 22/08/2005 20:45

Rowlers · 22/08/2005 20:46

OK from the top:

Suncream - got 2 factor 40, 1 factor 30 and 2 factor 20 - Is factor 20 too low?
Calpol - 1 box of sachts and 1 bottle
Sunhats x 5
Aftersun - Got babylotion, that OK?

Swimmers - Got 22
Bouyany Aid - Got swim seat and also ordered some armbands.
Swimsuits - about 15
Parasol -Got, attaches nicely to buggy
Diarhlyte - didn't think of that, will get out of medicine cupboard ready!
Bite Cream - 2 tubes
Insurance - Got travel card

Passport - All sent off last Tuesday, hoping and praying it comes back in time or we wont be going
SudoCream - 1 large pot
Favourite teddy - Washed and ready to go
Books - Brought some little hardback one whixh will be ideal.

What about a mozzy repelant?

You will not need that much Calpol!! Just take the sachets.

SoupDragon · 22/08/2005 20:53

You won't need 15 swimsuits either - how many do you take for yourself??

moondog · 22/08/2005 20:53

Eh?
22 swimmers??
15 swimsuits??
5 hats??

SoupDragon · 22/08/2005 20:54

Wouldn't use factor 20. I never go below 30 with DSs and they tan very easily.

Springchicken · 22/08/2005 20:54

We've never taken her abroad before so want to make sure i've got plenty of everything.

15 Swimsuits was a bit extreme, she's got about 7.

Get a reusable swim nappy.

Rowlers · 22/08/2005 20:54

I take DD's nail clippers everywhere with me - her nauils grow so fast and then she scratches herself
I think you may need to hire the whole plane to get you there with all that lot!
Do you really need 15 swimsuits? DD went naked mostly.

Springchicken · 22/08/2005 20:55

Okee dokee, will stock up on some higher factor and use the factor 20 myself.
I'll try and get some factor 50 to be on the safe side.

2 swimsuits is plenty - one on , one drying, They dry quicky and are easily rinsed out.

moondog · 22/08/2005 20:56

SC...you're not taking the piss are you??

My dd is 41/2 and has had two swimsuits in her life! (And we swim a lot!!!)
Remember, you'll have to lug it all the way there and all the way back.

Springchicken · 22/08/2005 20:56

Thought about that Soupy as our villa has a washing machine so would be very easy to rinse everything out. Never used them before though so sure if disposables would be easier.
Swim Nappy would defo save on room

Where are you staying? We took a small coolbag and a freezer pack so water could be kept cool whilst on the beach.
Just a thought.

Springchicken · 22/08/2005 20:57

Unfortunately not . I brought her 3 but SIL has given her the other as Neice is a bit older and has been passing them down to her.
Okay, i'll just take 3. Would bikini;s be better so she can just wear the bottoms?

Swim nappy gets my vote

Demented · 22/08/2005 21:01

Springchicken · 22/08/2005 21:03

Mum reminded me that yesterday Demented! think i need to pack to see what i reaslistically need or dont need!
