Hi all

Has anyone been to Fethiye in Turkey?.....what is it like and have i left it too late to book as im not sure if you need injections?....we are looking at going next weekend!!!

We were going to go camping but the weather has been so bad in Plymouth this past week we have decided to get a last minute booking instead!

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated!

TIA

I haven't been to Fethiye for a long time but when I did go I really liked it. It is a nice town and there is plenty to see and do in the surrounding areas.

You don't have to have injection for tourist resorts in Turkey.

Hi
Fethiye is a good sized modern town, built around a large bay area and sited with stunning mountains behind.

The weather is hot at the moment, ranging up to 34 in the height of the day and mid twenties at night.

there is loads to do, with boat trips on your doorstep, beautiful beaches nearby, a large market on a Tuesday, a long promenade with shady seats, cafes which have live music most nights and comfortable outside seating.

Culture seekers will love the lycian ruins dotted in and around town, the roman ampitheatre and the cultural centre.

There is a small multiscreen cinema which often shows original language films with Turkish subtitles - great for a few hours of airconditioned relaxation.

There are spa's, Turkish baths, a touristic bazaar and many many restaurants and bars. For the less culinary adventurous and to please the kids there is also domino's pizza, Mackie D's and Burger king.

That said most people do enjoy Turkish food which is simple, fresh and delicious.

You don't need jabs and fethiye town is pretty much mosquito free, although it is always worth spraying a bit of repellent to be sure.

Calis beach is nearby with watersports on offer and a large shingle beach, great for swimming.

there is an extremely good website www.fethiyetimes.com which has weather and other local info if you want to delve a bit deeper.

Hope that helps - you should have a lovely holiday - I go there very regularly!
