Where should we go in late Dec or early Jan?! Looking for warmth rather than blistering sunshine. Usual need for babysitting, good food, activities to entertain us as well as them etc etc. Thanks.

Caribbean a definite possibility but does anyone have advice re specific places? I suppose most of Europe is cold in Dec/Jan. Anyone been to eg Greece at this time of year?

We've been to FDR in Jamiaca (its in the BA brochure) and could'nt recoment it highly enough. You get a nanny assigned to you for the duruation of your stay and they are fab with the kids. Look at fdrholidays.com

Greece wouldn't be the place to go in winter - apart from the weather being miserable, majority of "resorts" close down for the winter months.
I guess Cyprus would be ok if you wanted Med, would be the only real option, but don't expect to be swimming in the sea - mild, but not hot - but then they do have some good hotels - eg Annabelle in Paphos, which do babysitting and has excellent reputation - had one client come back recently saying it was the best food she'd ever had, EVER!

Canaries would be possible if you don't want to go long haul - I've sent countless families to the Jardin Tecina on La Gomera - has family rooms or interconnecting rooms guaranteed, and has a kids club, babysiting, 3 restaurants - and isn't half as commercialised as the main resorts on Tenerife, Lazarote or Gran Canaria. Have also sent people to Princess Yaiza - an all suit hotel in Lanzarote which I've heard good things about. But if it's Christmas/New Year you need to book NOW - Caribbean is probaly a non-starter for this period by now.
