We are taking dd aged 8 to MAnchester next week to watch Hairspray. We normally just go shopping but thought we would try and make a nice day of it.

Any reccomendations on what to see/where to go.

Museum of Science and Industry perhaps?

Manchester Art Gallery - they have childrens packs and an interactive gallery.
Peoples history museum - quite new - social history stuff but it is quite interesting and there are plenty of interactive exhibits.

My 8 year old dd loved the People's History Museum - not huge but they have redone it nicely.

A trip on the big wheel would go down well. If you book the tickets online in advance you can get them cheaper and bypass any queues on the day.

The Museum of Science of Industry is also fantastic, particularly the interactive children's section.

Or, depending on how much time you have, how about the Chill Factor dry ski slope? You can do other things apart from skiing for younger children. It's a few miles out of town (by the Trafford Centre).

Have fun!

The big wheel is out I'm afraid, dh has serious vertigo!!!!

Will look in to the history museum, dd loves things like that. I think I read somewhere that therer is an exhibition to do with ballet on in Manchester, costumes and stuff, that would be right up dd's street, anyone know anythng about that?
