Ryanair priority boarding

I know, I know! Ryanair are supposed to be dreadful, however we are flying with them to portugal in August. I have paid for priority boarding but am worried that it won't happen - have read some baaaad things about it...has anyone actually had a good experience with it? please talk me through it and explain what I need to do! Also, which would be the best seats? on other flights I've always booked near the front but
what are the best legroom ones without being in the front row? Believe we can't have the kids on the front row..
thanks

I was very glad to have paid for priority from Bristol - Belfast recently as I was a bit late getting to the gate. Saw one huge queue and got my fury on thinking that they hadn't separated priority from regular boarding.

Turns out we were the only ones who'd paid for it so got put in a separate queue on our own and swanned on first. v handy with 10mo DS.

Don't think any seats are better really, you won't get wing exit seats with kids and they hold the first few front rows for late boarders.
