what's the best day out for a 77yr old, a 6 yr old and parents? - we've done Hever Castle to death and are wondering about Igtham Mote, Chartwell or Groombridge Gardens. Prefer somewhere a little bit educational (six year old loves headphones and guided tours for kids) but am open to suggestions.

Sounds like the Museum of Kent Life could be just the thing.

Lots of interactive stuff for the 6yo, lovely gardens, farm animals, old houses/school etc to bring back memories. Very good tea room.

We found it by accident and had a wonderful day out.

Leeds castle is brilliant too. The castle is beautiful, there is an aviary and also interesting bird of prey demos, and a playground - if you have the time and energy!

Dover Castle? We love it there. You can drive along to Samphire Hoe and picnic there. You can also go along to Sandgate and get an ice cream and there's a small sandpit on the stony beach and a l-on-g walkway down to Hythe. If you drive to Hythe, there's the Romney Hythe & Dymchurch Railway - good fun for young and old....

We love it here

Museum of Kent Life is good as well as there is not a huge amount of walking for older people.

Doesn't Canterbury have a 'Canterbury tales' museum thing? I remember headphones & wax models & smells & things - all be it 20 years ago!
