Day out with Toddler

We're trying to plan a family day out over the summer. The only child in the group is ours - a very active 18 month old boy!

Can anyone suggest somewhere that would be fun for family members of all ages?

We live in north London but would be happy to drive 1-2 hours for somewhere worthwhile for the whole day.

Thanks

London zoo, especially if you take a picnik, then you could visit Madame Tussards

Southend by train from Fenchurch Street, or Liverpool street or drive

Brighton, with it's beach, pier and amusement arcade and trendy shops

I hear Broadstairs is good but haven't been

Whipsnape is great.. Woburn too (but a bit further)

Legoland

How old are your kids?

We have DSD1 15, DSD2 12, DS 2 and DD 11months.

We struggle to find something for everyone, but found Eurodisney quite a good weekend.

The beach might be a good option?
