House-sitting for lovely friends in Jersey for 2 weeks in August.
Need to hire a car, thought I would be able to hire car seats at the same time.
Went through process (had to make booking then ask about seats which was silly anyway) to find they will totally rip me off for car seat hire, so I've cancelled that booking and will start again.
Then I read various threads on here about problems with hired car seats anyway so thinking maybe we should take our own.
DS1 is 4 so could have just a booster, which would fit in a suitcase so no real problem there - but which booster? (he has big seats at home at the mo) are the dirt cheap ones ok? I like the look of the ones with a drink holder, lol!
DS2 is 2 so needs a bigger seat, we have Recaro (expensive & heavy) ones at home and not keen to take one of them on a plane. Should we get a cheap alternative to take on holiday? Any recommendations for cheap but safe car seats with 5-point harness?
We are flying with FlyBe, their website says we can take 2 out of 3 (buggy, travel cot & car seat) for free, have to pay for third, gah. But at least it means they allow car seats in the hold. (Though that was under the heading "what infant equipment can i take?" is 2 an 'infant'??)
Anyone done anything similar recently who could advise?
