Access Course Maths/English assessment. HELP!!

I have just received my letter inviting me for an interview for an access course I am interested in.

The letter states that there will also be a maths and English assessment and this has got me a little worried. It's been such a long, long time since I was at school and maths is not one of my strongest points.

Can anyone tell me anything about the tests? Are they difficult and do I need to revise?

Thank you in advance

Hi, I am just completing my Access to Humanities course. Orignally I went for Access to teaching and was advised against it as I am not sure that is what I want to do. So make sure you are on the right course for your ultimate goal.

When I went for my test it really was very basic addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. Seem to remember that there was a cake and how much ingrediants cost for a certain size and then how much if it were made for 8 people. It was done on the computer as was the English which involved punctuation (putting full stops, question marks and commas) where needed. We also had to write a letter, again just to see what our English comprehension was like.

Good luck I am sure you will be fine, it was hard work but very much worth it. I thought when starting my Access course that if I finish with just a GCSE in Maths I will be happy, I now have that and more and I am starting uni this September.

Thank you esor you have made me feel a little better about it. I envisaged myself sat there with an exam type paper and a blank mind! I am prepared for the hard work, in fact I'm looking forward to it, I need a challenge.

A huge well done to you for reaching your goal. You must feel very proud of yourself
