The NUJ run indesign courses - look them up on the web. They are cheap and you don't have to be a member.

oooh. Many thanks - I have had a look and the courses are £465 (so a little dear - so I will keep looking)

Have you tried the City Lit?

I did a two-day course at Europa Training (North Road, London N7). It was very hands on (they did give us a proper book to take home at the end of it, but it was very geared to actually doing the stuff yourself rather than lots of theory).

The guy who ran the course had years of experience in publishing and was very patient and good humoured. Would recommend them (great lunches just down the road too!) It cost me about £350 in January, although I think that was a special offer.
