Counselling Diploma queries

Hi,

I wonder if there is anyone out there who can help. I am currently studying an Introduction into counselling course at my local cllege and I am looking at Diploma courses starting in Sept. The nearest BACP accredited course is a 70 mile round trip away where as my local course offers a dipolma which is an AQA exam board course.

My question is, if anyone can help, am I wasting my time doing a none BACP accredited course.? My current tutor tells me everyone that did the AQA diploma got employment in counselling following the course. Secondly How much am I looking at spending on my own required counselling in the first year.

Its something I really want to do but the course and funding is worrying me

Any advice would be really appreciated

Hi lostthewill, I'm considering the same thing this year, did you find out whether it's worth applying for the non BACP accredited course?

Hi sorry its taken so long to get back to you I've only just noticed your reply. Hmmm in a word no. No one seems to be able to give us any definitive advice at the moment. I think the answer is yes if you have one locally to you which we don;t unfortunately. Are you currently doing the certificate course and if so did you sit your exam yesterday?
