Open University - open degree.

Has anyone studied for an open degree with the OU?

Im starting a BSc in January, and want to combine elements of the Psychology and Life Sciences degrees. The best (well only) way of doing this seems to be as an open degree.

Does anyone know how well recognised an open degree is, as opposed to a named one?

No idea sorry. I have a named degree with the OU. If you're starting in January, do you already have access to the OU forums (via Firstclass)? If so, you could ask people on those forums for advice. Some of them will have completed Open degrees already and will know how well recognised it is.

One thing you can do while completing your Open Degree is to make sure that you complete as many Diplomas as possible on the way. Each course you do can count towards more than one qualification, so long as you register for each qualification in advance. Then as well as your degree you'll have recognised Diplomas in named subjects.
