Accomodation In London for Post Grad Students

Hi, Can anyone offer any advice or guidance re finding safe & reasonable accomodation in London. My daughter and a friend are finishing a degree course in Liverpool and are going to London starting in September 09 as they have both gained places on a pgce course @ The London School of Speech and Drama. Not much help forthcoming from the school or Uni. A bit scary when you do not know london at all. Any tips would be gratefully received!!

Firstly congrats to your daughter on getting a place on such an exciting course!

I think you might not have had replies because your request is very very broad tbh.

This sounds a bit weird to me that the School of Speech and Drama are not helping. I'm guessing your daughter has contacted their accommodation office www.cssd.ac.uk/pages/accommodation.html

Are they really not offering any advice at all? Is it possible your daughter had a one-off dud adviser, maybe try again?

Other possible avenues might include house shares advertised through Loot or Gumtree. But I would still continue to battle away through the accommodation office.

Thanks for your reply.
We have not really had any specific help from the school but are hoping that we may get some advice/guidance from them when they attend an induction day on the 3 June.
The only contact we have had from them so far is about arranging placement schools near their accomodation. As they have not been able to arrange this yet it is a little difficult to suggest areas that they would want to be!
