I have an interview for a BEd (Primary)in April. Would really appreciate any hints as to what is likely to be involved-have been told to bring a prop which I assume is as a lesson starter and there will be a group interview and a personal interview. Also, it's a long time since my last university interview - is it still expected that interviewees wear a suit?

They will want to know that you like children and have some understanding of professionalism so suit, yes but not too scary- go for softer lines if poss. They will want to know that you are creative and full of ideas and have a good basic level of literacy and numeracy. You will have to make sure you speak out in the group interview bit as you are going to have to have a certain level of confidence.
Good luck!
Have you had any ideas for your prop?

Thanks for that. I am a deputy playgroup leader and do a day a week as a volunteer in a Year 3 class so quite confident and happy to be around children and have lots of ideas for activities. Have thought about using a princess puppet I have to introduce the idea of traditional stories - could talk about the characters, type of stories then get children (depending on age) to draw storyboard or draw and write description of favourite character. is that any good do you think?

Yes but maybe a bit girl orientated - balance with something for the boys. The underachievement of boys is a big thing at the moment in education.

Ah - it's a bit obvious I have 3 girls then! Thank you, I'll have a rethink.
As far as clothes go would a trouser suit and nice top be OK?

Yes I think so.
How about a tub of slime?

KateF · 20/02/2009 22:57

Slime sounds cool, actually dd2 would love that . Thanks for all your help.
