DD got a Cambridge offer today!

Considering neither Parent went to Uni at all, and she is at local Comp, we are exceedingly proud

Milliways · 04/01/2009 22:31

Thanks everyone!

She needs 3 A grade A levels (is taking 4).

SHe actually got a letter saying she had been pooled on Saturday morning, but got a phone call from another college with an offer without further interview, which is fantastic!

She also has an Unconditional offer from SOuthampton, so has done soooooo well

CharCharGabor · 05/01/2009 11:19

Well done to your DD

mumof3teens · 05/01/2009 14:50

That is wonderful - you must be very proud.

pooka · 05/01/2009 14:53

Milliways, that is amazing! Good for her.

Which college picked her from the pool? Is brilliant that they did so and offered a place without further interviews.

What does she want to read?

Milliways · 06/01/2009 16:51

She is doing Languages, and the offer is for New Hall (female college) which she hadn't considered but on reading the website looks great

Fantastic news, Milliways. I'm so pleased for her. A very good friend (and former teacher) of mine is at New Hall (in my subject area) and I've stayed there a couple of times. It's not the most characterful of colleges (in the traditional vein), but it also seems more friendly and less poncey! Very well done to your dd.

MerryChristmasPANDAGHappy09 · 06/01/2009 17:10

Fab Milliways - brilliant!

DH went to Cambridge from the local comp, and generally had a great time (but worked very hard too) Fantastic!

PandaG · 06/01/2009 17:15

aaaagh, just realised I haven't taken my CHristmas hat off!

Milliways · 06/01/2009 18:47

Milliways - only just seen this thread (don't normally read this section as my DCs are only 11 and 13).

Just wanted to say Well Done to your DD, a fantastic achievement!

From a fellow Reading resident (I'm on the other side of town).

Milliways · 07/01/2009 19:45

Thanks! NIt shows not ALL the Reading schools are useless
