Anyone done a speed reading course?

Have read several times that these are very good courses but not met anyone who has done one or could recommend one.

No but it was a longstanding family joke that my MIL borrrowed a book on speedreading from the library and accumulated a huge amount in fines for not getting back on time

DD (12yo) has been a very fast reader for years - she beat me at reading the last Harry Potter when it came out and retained a lot more than I did. DH finds it impossible to read quickly because he has to read every single word whereas I think I read about 50% of the words on every page, often fewer.

I did at school. It was good, but I now have a problem with proofing my own work as I don't read it properly.
